Zoo Trip

Marin and Charlie went on a zoo playdate before their friends went to Utah for a long family vacation. The weather was moist, but it kept the crowds down, and the rain only added to the fun for two little boys who LOVE to jump in puddles.

The Bronx Zoo is one of the best in the US, and we're so lucky to have it a subway ride away. Wednesday is pay-what-you-wish day at the zoo. We went on a Wednesday.

Ok, it wasn't quite this wet. The gorilla house has fake mist inside to make it seem more junglish. Obviously, Charlie thought this was puh-ritty darn cool.

Snack break. Charlie has begun to refuse a lot of foods, but bananas are pretty much a sure bet.

Charlie and this particular friend have a strange and beautiful relationship. It consists of them whacking each other until one of them starts howling and their moms put them in time-out. They adore one another, and they ask to play together every single day.

Here are some of the animals that Charlie was particularly excited to see. On the way trip, he directed her to take pictures of them, and, since they've been uploaded, he frequently requests to inspect them on the computer: "Mama, can I please see the picture of the alligator please?"

Wow! Nothing like getting up close and personal with the animals!
