Charlie loved the game and we had a great time cheering for the Mets (who lost pretty badly). Since we were only given a few hours notice, I was still in my work clothes, but Charlie was well-dressed for the game.
After we watched several innings, we went up to the "Diamond Club", where my fancy-pants tickets gave us an entrance into an exclusive area with overpriced restaurants and bars. Classy bars, but overpriced.
At that point, Charlie was really thirsty, so we went to the bartender and I got him to fill up Charlie's Mets sippy-cup with tap water. The guy next to us was calling his mom. Here is the conversation (total New York moment).
"Hey Ma! Guess where I am? I'm at the Diamond Club at Shea Stadium (hiccup), and I got money on the table in front of me!" (he had about $30 scattered in $5 bills and $1 bills). "I know, did you ever think when you gave birth to me that this would (hiccup) happen?"
Then the game started having a lot of action, and his friend said, "Lets (hiccup) get the [expletive] out of here!"
I missed the rest of the guys conversation with his mother.
It was freaky that both of those guys had the hiccups. I thought that drunk hiccups were only in cartoons with ACME products. But what do I know.
After a week of staying late because of the Lehman filing, the firm totally gave me a great memory with Charlie. I suddenly feel very loyal.

We were right next to Lehman Brothers (whose 12 seats were completely empty--surprise surprise).
We were right above the field and had such a great view. Charlie LOVED IT! He ate two $5.00 hotdogs on his own, and dumped out the bag of pretzels Mom packed us on the ground. He loved smashing them into the ground.

Gil, I too overheard some memorable conversations in New York. Holmes and I were on the ferry to Staten Island when we had no choice but to listen to two guys (with no attempts to soften their voices) discuss their preferences in women. One was more of a "T" man and the other an "A" man. They couldn't agree on "T & A" and so they both exited the ferry defending their stance (I used "T" and "A" for your Utah readership).
I'm glad that you got to go and I'm glad that you seem to be doing so well out there.
Thanks for posting! I often wonder how things are going for you. We miss you but know that you will do well at work and and be a great asset in your community.
I love the pictures. Hug that little guy for me.
Love to all of you!
I love the pictures! I showed the pictures of Charlie to my roommate and she said, "Wow. I bet he could get away with pretty much anything."
I'm excited to come see you guys!
