I finished my first week of work. It started with a full day of orientation, choosing health plans, pre-tax payroll deductions, and 401K accounts. On Tuesday night, the firm had a cocktail party in our honor. By the end, we were all exhausted.
Although everyone thought I was going to practice Latin American Corporate, because of the national bankruptcy award I won, I was placed directly into the bankruptcy department.
I was welcomed by the most acute financial crisis this country has seen since the great depression. Think about what happened in the last week in the financial markets: (1) Lehman Brothers filed; (2) Merrill Lynch failed; (3) Washington Mutual failed; (4) AIG failed.
I am glad that I took both bankruptcy courses my 2L year, and that I stuck around and TA'd for them my 3L year. I totally hit the ground running after a few days review of the bankruptcy code.
Finally, while Marin volunteered with the Cub Scouts tonight, Charlie and I were given the firm's tickets to the Mets game. More on that in the next post.

Congrats on your new position and your ability to "hit the ground running" with corporate bankruptcy! I find that all a big snore...I enjoy the drama of family law (it's kinda like a saop opera, lol!) Anyhow, I am glad you are enjoying NY (I'm from there...did you know?..till I moved to Provo in 7th gr)
The METS are my dad's team glad you got a chance to see them with Charlie. :)
We are so glad you are enjoying New York! I am so glad you posted, because I have been checking multiple times a day and it was totally worth it.
