We had been curious for a long time about a boat in the Hudson with a greenhouse on the back and a sign in front that said "The Science Barge." Last Saturday we took a tour with Rachel and Josh Ligairi, Marin's cousins who had come to visit. The Science Barge is a solar and wind powered boat with a greenhouse on the back where scientists and interns grow vegetables in creative ways. The point it to educate the New York public about "urban gardening," growing edible foods without soil or wasted materials. We had a great time and we took home some fresh veggies.
